Or teacher appreciation day makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. The students reading essays on what teachers mean to them is nice but my home room students having to walk on their knees to present flowers seems very strange to my western sensibilities. I guess an inevitable part of being an expat is finding foreign customs bizarre.
