The lure of the Kingfisher

It was the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust Coffee and Cakes party for the volunteers this morning.  A lovely atmosphere and really nice to spend time with them.  I was about to head for home when I just thought, " The Kingfisher might be around."

He was. He'd been seen by several of them, but flying past not settling. The Trent is SO overflowing, near to bursting its banks, and there is no possibility for him to fish on it.  So, he returned to the main pools. Just by the hide is a small inlet where he had been seen earlier.  After about an hour of just missing him, I sat there, patiently.

Patience rewarded - he arrived and I stood watching and taking photos for a minute or so.

Kingfishers are definitely addictive
