Biggest wins!
A few weeks ago I was standing at the bus stop and saw a bird eating bread that was on the road despite cars zooming past within feet of him. Today was waiting for bus again, just after lunchtime and saw several fighting for the prize. Cars came within about a foot of the birds, and they never even flapped a wing. The schools had just returned and there was plenty leftovers lying about for the birds. The starlings had sole control until the pigeon arrived and edged them out.
My first reaction was 'Why?' the birds should be eating worms etc not fast food, then realised just how cold it was when a few minutes later the sun disappeared and I saw small hailstones. Perhaps the birds have been brainwashed by society to like fast food.
I always think that as soon as the sun comes out that it's summer. I was coatless, but I had my gloves with me and had on a poloneck sweater.
