My Grandfather's Clock...

I love that song, "My Grandfather's Clock was too tall for the shelf, though it lived 90 years on the floor..." Needless to say, this clock is neither too tall for the shelf, nor my grandfather's. When I was a kid though I did love my grandfather's mantel clock, and the way it chimed to show the passage of time. So, when my grandfather died I asked for his clock. It had already been promised to my eldest male cousin. After I moved to my Kansas house, which has a mantel, I looked for and found a chiming mantel clock. Sadly, I was the the only one in my family who loved the chiming. Now my mantel clock has sat silent for many years, waiting for maintenance, and for me to persuade my family of the worth of a clock that chimes the time...
