The real McCoy
When we were in Usana, we ate the proudly promoted local ham, jamón de Teruel. It was OK, and not expensive, but our visit to the Tira-Tap this evening was a welcome reminder of the existence of seriously good jamón.
We set out to go to the cinema this evening, planning an early evening meal. But as Maria brought on first ham and pan con tomate, then creamy pumpkin soup, then pan-fried foie gras, somehow the evening slipped away. By the time she served the steak and pommes dauphinois, we'd given up on the cinema idea. So cheese, a delicious pear and caramel gateau, coffee, and then she put a mysteriously unlabelled bottle of port on the table for us to try -- it was divine! So an earlier night than expected -- there's always tomorrow for the cinema.
