Contrast in harmony together

Architecture is the learned game of correct and magnificent forms assembled in the light. This image is the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids with the contemporary VanAndel Medical Building tucked in behind it. 
There is talk of tearing down the church. That would ruin the whole architectural synthesis. I love the two wildly different structures under the same hat.  Its not a splintered way of thinking that defines these buildings but age, light variability, and contemporary design all in harmony together as an architectural effect.
