If you can't have the real thing...

I have a funny feeling I may have blipped this lovely painting of Rachel's dog before - but it's the artist's birthday today - so thanks Frances. I look at Fletcher from bed and her slightly quizzical expression always cheers me up!
It's been a horrible day here - 'dreich'. And to start the morning my lovely little car refused to start. Apparently cold, and sitting for a fairly short period, had played havoc with the battery. However school was good and Rachel and I went for a lunchtime ''bowl of soup' - which expanded into quiche.
Am listening to ' The Beauty of Equations' and have to face the fact that I'm probably too old now to ever master the mystery of the Universe. I have read 'A Brief History of Time' from cover to cover, but that says more about my stubbornness than my understanding. There are many things I can't do - play the piano, repair a car, speak a foreign language fluently - but somehow I view my lack of ability in physics with a more lingering regret!
