I don't really do Christmas but...

It's the 1st December and I found a mince pie in the cupboard.
Nowhere near as good as the ones my Mum used to make.
When she did her baking for Christmas we were always hanging around the kitchen. She kept the best mince pies for Christmas Day but any "broken ones" were devoured as they came out of the oven.
