The Singapore Merlion
There merlion on Singapore's harbour front has become an icon and mascot of Singapore after its installation in 1972. The lion head represents Singapore's original name - Singapura - meaning 'lion city' or 'kota singa'. This photo of the merlion was captured as we took a night time river cruise to see the light display in the harbour. After touring the harbour in an old junk boat we had a fantastic 'cook it yourself' hot stone dinner on a floating boat within the famous Clarke Quay. After dinner it was a leisurely stroll back along the water front through the 'old town' of Singapore with live music serenading us along the way.
