Houses

We have six houses at our school, each named after an inspirational New Zealander. Lydiard (my house and orange), Ngata, Rutherford, Sheppard, Hillary and Mansfield. In a school of over 1600 students, it gives them a point of reference and kind of creates small schools within the school. It gives a real sense of belonging and being valued.

As an end of year thing, we have had these wristbands made up to give to the leaving students and teachers. Other students can purchase them too. I think it's a nice idea.
