Ganslessen and Abstract Chilli
The feast of St Martin's or Martini is celebrated in Austria on 11th November. It marks the end of the agrarian year. a time when animals are slaughtered and the new wine is ready for drinking. St Martin of Tours was a Roman soldier who became a monk. He was a friend to children and a patron of the poor.
Roast goose is the traditional meal on 11th November although it is served in most restaurants throughout November.
The goose became a symbol of St. Martin of Tours because of a legend that when trying to avoid being ordained bishop he had hidden in a goose pen, where he was betrayed by the cackling of the geese. St. Martin's feast day falls in November, when geese are ready for killing. St. Martin’s Day was an important medieval autumn feast........ Wikipedia
We went with a group of friends for lunch today to a well known local guest house for Ganslessen (literally goose meal) where i had a goose soup, which was wonderful and a roast goose quarter with potato dumplings and red sauerkraut (see extra).
We were going to a Christmas market in the evening but it was cold, windy and raining so we cancelled and my blip plans were also cancelled. Instead, I played around with zooming and camera movement on this ornamental chilli which was much more cheerful
