Caves in Quail Island
A very enjoyable day out paddling on Lyttelton Harbour, in and out of the caves, watching the many black-backed gulls nesting high up on the cliffs under the basalt columns on Quail Island, and investigating the wreck graveyard. Nice to be out and about - and the wind wasn't too bad at all, for a change.
I'm putting an image of the back of another cave, showing the intriguing markings on the 'ceiling'. I wouldn't have liked to have been in here during one of the quakes!
