Moon halo
Thanks to everyone who showered hearts and stars on my long-tailed tit - they are the most charismatic birds, and remarkably bold compared with many of the other tits.
Today the weather's been rather grey and drab, and that, together with work and domestic matters, meant that photography was low on the agenda. The assessor came to look at the damage on our roof, and, after examining the ridge tiles with a camera mounted on a 10m pole, decided that they weren't covered because the cement had been in poor repair. I'm not sure how we were supposed to know that, as they looked perfectly OK from the ground. The consequential damage is covered by insurance, but we'll have to wait until Monday to know the likely costs of repairs.
In the evening Pete and I went to a social event arranged for all those who volunteer on one of the Trust's reserves. The invitation was rather short notice, but we had a splendid time. Some of the attendees were very accomplished musicians, and after eating we were entertained by a range of songs and tunes played on two mandolins, a guitar, a bodhrun and a hand-made hurdy-gurdy. A surprising and very welcome way to end the week.
This photo of the moon was snatched as we returned home, pretty much an EB!
