Water Meadows

When the tide is in, the River Test estuary where it becomes  the upper reaches of Southampton Water can quickly flood the wildlife territory.
In normal times there is plenty of  exposed grassland between the various flows of the river towards the sea, which the wading seabirds love.  From my vantage point on the upper floor of a restaurant, you can be tempted to sit and watch the birds for ages. I’ve even seen people here with binoculars watching the wildlife and hopeful of catching sight of one of the many birds.
That’s normally not too difficult, but when the tide is high like this, those places which are favoured by the birds disappear.  In some ways, it is just as scenic as when the water is lower, yet gives an entirely different complexion to the riverscape.

But I guess that is what I find so fascinating about the waterfront and water views. It is ever changing.
