The Devil Is A Squirrel

The title and the Blip have nothing in common.

The Blip is from  the Sternschnuppenmarkt at around a quarter to 4 this afternoon.  This Glühwein stall is just a scaled up version of a traditional Xmas decoration here.

The title comes from yet another German saying - "der Teufel ist ein Eichhörnchen", which is literally "the devil is a squirrel".

Apparently the saying comes from the middle ages* when squirrels were associated with the devil on account of their colour & ingenuity.

Basically it means that the Devil can take the most innocent of forms and you have to be careful at all times.

And so if someone is going out for the night, don't forget to say "Have a Great Time, and don't forget, the Devil is  a Squirrel!"

I think if you use this and "the essence of poodle" from last week, all you'll be getting for Xmas is worried looks and conversations that stop when you walk into a room.

*I'm guessing this came from the same people with the Flat Earth Theory.  Although there is a legend from Tyrolea where a hunter shot a squirrel in a tree and the squirrel didn't die, but became 2 squirrels and with every shot after the same result until the tree was full of squirrels.
