Keek!
Back in Kelvingrove catching up on my duties and having another look at the Century of Style Exhibition.
This red velvet tea dress was worn by a woman who would have been able to afford luxury fabrics. A tea dress had no whalebone structure and was worn by ladies in the afternoon at home, possibly without corsets before changing into evening dress later.
So, since it was only worn at home I don't think her husband would have said 'Put on your red dress baby 'cause we're going out tonight.'
A blurry blip as the camera was on the wrong setting!!
