Through the Darkness...

Through the darkness there was light... That is how the sky was looking this evening as I drove home from my regular Twelve Step meeting. It has been a grim day for many here in Marlborough. There is a large forest fire being fought in the Waikakaho Valley to the north-west of Blenheim. The nor-west wind has been blowing a gale all day and at times helicopters which have been used to fight the fire have had to be grounded. It is a huge battle for the fire-fighters to contain the fire and to save properties and stock. Luckily nobody has been injured. Trees can be re-grown but people cannot be replaced. Mercifully the winds have dropped this evening but predicted rain has not yet arrived. But tomorrow the light will shine through the darkness and a new day will dawn.
