Late Night City Tales

Everything But The Girl - Five Fathoms (Steve Porter and John Debo Mix)

I love the city. It's alive at night. People are at peak's energy feeling the livid wires of the night. Enjoying the electricity of the air and feeling the vibe of the people. Running at full capacity, a city can have the electricity of pure energy; everyone living and loving life at it's purest form.

Many people opt for hermitism or some form of escape, but I believe the city (any "major" city) is a form of humanism at an evolutionary level where everyone works together to create a transcendent being. People may argue against it, but I personally believe that their opinion lies within a cocoon of personal insecurity (as does mine). Evolution is natural whether you believe it or not, and the city is an evolutionary being that is the collective work of every human being that chooses to reside in it.

If you believe that your expression is of worth and creates something tangible then it would be, by logic, that the collective worth of many will create something greater. Culture, Mores, Social Norms, etc. There is no denying we all function together and not just individually. We create the problems and advances that we wish to measure. Corporations, companies, entities of a qualitative and quantitive nature are only that because humans have created it so.

Before you begin to discount me and purport predetermined or university rhetoric, think of all the things that you truly despise and cherish, objects and conceptual determinants like democracy, socialism, public interest and so on. They were all created within the minds of a collective set of human beings. So therefore, if you abhor a certain criteria, just remember that your criteria is under equal scrutiny, as are mine.

I know those of you who choose to read this will either admire it (my gosh I'm full of crap) or despise it and that's ok. We are all equalised under the sun.

I know I'm speaking with a tone that is patronising. I'm fully aware that what I'm attempting to write is within a sad formation of insecurity. Nonetheless, it's what I feel and I hope you choose to do what you feel is right within yourself. It's our only choice.
