It meant the world to me that this past May when I graduated with my doctorate, my mom & dad made the trip up for the celebration. They'd told me when I started my degree that they were no longer traveling this far. So it was huge for them to make the trip. They flew -- mom hadn't been on a plane since Sept 11. This is family of chance and I love them so much. My family of choice also surrounded me that day and watched over my parents with kind and generous care, increasing in so many ways the joy of that day. Family of chance and family of choice are dearer than words or blips. Thanks be.
