Why so surprised?

I've always thought the Man in the Moon's expression looks like he is so surprised at work he is looking at. Maybe it's surprise at the general folly of mankind. Maybe it's surprise at how fast the time has gone since his last time around as a full moon. Or that we can see ,if we choose , a boy and girl kissing , or a hare. That one I think is pushing it a little bit (the ears simply are not large enough ). I am surprised that after making crescent roll dough and two pumpkin pies that I am still awake enough to post his picture! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
