Common Kingfisher(Alcedo atthis)

A very accomplished fellow photographer gave me the greatest tip ever-if you've seen birds in a specific location before, go back there, sit tight and wait for the birds to come to you. Sitting in my car(very much off road) with my lens poking out of the window, with no birds close, I begin to think after some time my waiting is going to come to nothing. Then this beauty comes and sits on a rock (his rock) and the brief investigation by the Military Police was more than worth it! Isn't he gorgeous? I will never tire of seeing these stunning little birds. Now to get one of him diving, like the incredible shots taking by the very patient man this week in the paper, weren't they just incredible?
