Red Sky in the Morming
For five glorious minutes this morning at 7:45, the eastern sky was on fire and It was worth abandoning my lonely oatcake and tea to stand outside in my slippers to record it. The colours faded quickly as the sun rose, leaving the sky bright but much less dramatic.
At this point in the year the sun rises and sets within such a narrow arc in the sky that without moving from my chair in the study or barely turning my head, I can see both events occurring.
Since you ask, the book group discussion went well last night. 'Road Ends' by Mary Lawson was given the thumbs up although her previous book 'Crow Lake' was rated better. Discussion over, it was time for refreshment and general gossip.
When we were young Mums we never got to the general chat point, but statins, high blood pressure pills, general aches and pains and of course weather are endlessly fascinating at this stage in our lives, as is the arrival of new grandchildren. We calculated that between the original eight of us we have 45 grandchildren. I'm not sure this is something to applaud at the moment, with the world in crisis on many fronts.
