Farewell
Today we said goodbye to my last living uncle, Tony. The bagpipe player was there to greet us at the church. Tony was a WWII Marine veteran, he served on the Cambridge Police Force for 39 years and an entrepreneur. He was the son of immigrant parents, had a newspaper route at 7 years old. Bought his first real estate at 25. He owned an oil delivery business and ended his life owning several apartment buildings around Harvard and MIT, all while on the police force. Beyond being an uncle, he was a husband, a father and a grandfather. He did it all with ambition and faithfulness. There was an honor guard taking him to his final resting place with 6 motorcycle policeman blocking off all intersecting streets. Two Marine soldiers at his gravesite. A man of honor and integrity who lived a life filled with work and love.
