It Begins...

This is the bigger-than-last-year's-big-wheel.  I reckon it's about at least 5 meters taller this year.

The Xmas Market opened tonight.  In Wiesbaden it's called the Sternschuppnernmarkt and given it was opening night, it was nice to have a bit of snow as well.

Lots of people there tonight enjoying Germknödel, Kartoffelpuffer & Apfelmus, Currywurst *, Roasted Almonds and a million other things.  And everywhere you could smell Glühwein.

Your German lesson for tonight, the "Glüh" here means "glow", our word for lightbulb is "Glühbirne" or "Glow-pear", which when you look at an old-fashioned lightbulb makes a lot of sense.  If you only have LEDs around your house, enjoy your Glühpickel...
