Internet Problems!!
So, I have been trying to get some stuff done online today. Had to submit student finance stuff and also email an old friend to arrange a meet up plus several other tasks. As has happened before, my internet service provider *coughs* - Virgin media failed to deliver a service throughout most of today. This isn't the first time I have had problems with the service dropping out and just being, well . . . CRAP!
Luckily for me I have a friend called Bertie and he is my saviour in arms. He comes in the form of a little plastic box with some complicated computer chips inside him. He is so clever that he can get me the internet wherever I may be on this planet providing there is a cellular signal within reach.
What does that mean for ole Virgin Media. Well, if a little plastic box that I plug into the wall the size of the palm of my hand, if not smaller can pick up the internet signal and relay it to me without any problems in times of need then why the heck do I have a connection with lots of fibre optic cable to an exchange down the road and further? I would have thought that a wired in (as they say!) connection would be much more reliable. Virgin media, watch out. Your business is going to go bust one of these days.
For information, the green box with pretty calligraphy underneath the dongle is the box that I put all of "C" in America's correspondence. It's getting rather full so this blip has served it's purpose to remind me that I will have to find another system or purchase a second box.
On the other note, Boo-Boo the cat has been poorly the last few days. We took him down to the local vets for a 16:40 appointment, where he jumped out his carrier and started running around the place like never before. She did a checkup (with him hissing and scratching!) and quickly concluded that there was nothing wrong with him. I now have one very smug looking black and white cat sitting beside me on the sofa!
On a completely different note my mother is due to be discharged from hospital some time tomorrow. She will have help from her local secondary care team and I look forward to going to see her at home rather than in the horrible constraints of a Stroke Rehab Ward if that makes sense.
Grandpa is cooking pork escalopes with mashed potatoes and vegetables, followed by a huge bowl of pineapple chunks topped with tons of cream and sugar. Yummy. I cannot wait to eat it, my stomach feels like my throat has been cut.
Onwards and upwards and catch you around !! :-)
