Between fen and mountains

The real McCoy

On Monday I blipped a high quality striking carriage clock that was a pig to assemble because the parts had been machined to too close tolerances.  This one is ninetieth century French and so well made the parts just glide together.  In case you are wondering, this is what you find beneath the dial and most of it is striking levers, wheels and detents.  The tiny springs that operate the levers all have to correctly tensioned for the striking to work correctly and all the wheels have to be correctly meshed, one to the other.  Lost parts are irreplaceable!  It really is a work of art.
