the kingfisher's roost

It rained all morning and I spent it painting the basement floor.
About 3pm I went out to kayak expecting more rain, but there was a lull and for a moment the sun tried to poke through the heavy clouds.

This branch usually has kingfishers on it. They are impossible to photograph without a telephoto and a blind. I tried to photograph the wild turkeys but they too are flighty and understandably cautious birds.
