Fcuk-offy?
Bosses. Tut.
I found out today that the company I work for on a Monday has decided that they won't contribute towards the Christmas party.
Usually what happens, is that we pay the deposit and/or balance, and the company reimburses us for it.
However, this year they've said no. This now means the party has been cancelled, by default, as the dental nurses can't afford to pay the whole amount for their booking.
We all paid a deposit, which is non refundable, so everyone has lost out.
As I work for the same company on a Tuesday, I expect the same will happen there too.
Apparently the company are making redundancies, so I can kind of understand the cutbacks but think a Christmas party is the least that the staff deserve for working hard all year.
It seems it's not just our company; another one that shall remain nameless except to say they are Devils with a football has slapped a 'no alcohol on expenses' ban on staff. This might sound like a minor whinge, but when staff have worked a 15 hour day (when only contracted to do 8), is a beer at the end of a shift really too much to ask?
If it was a 6 or 7 pint piss up then fair enough, but one beer before bed?!
They're not all bad bosses though. Our Manager on a Monday has recently supplied a coffee machine for the staff room, along with a vast array of different pods for the machine, to show appreciation for great efforts and teamwork.
It really doesn't take much to show your staff a little bit of gratitude and it pays dividends to do so.
