Coming down over Clydebank

We headed off very early for our flight from Bristol, eventually found the long-term parking site and checked in on time.  I hadn't flown for a while so was rather put off by the security checks that are in place and the rather sullen approach of the staff, but I suppose it is necessary.

As we took off (see my 'Extra photo' for directions) the clouds began to clear and I was able to try out the little camera on auto mode by leaning over Helena and pointing the camera roughly out at the landscape.  I'm pleased with the results and got pictures (I love aerial views) of Clevedon and the Severn Estuary and the Severn Bridges, as well as odd pictures of gaps through the clouds over the Welsh Borders and then later the Lake District.  As the short flight descended I recognised the Forth Estuary and could work out our direction of approach for landing.

After spotting Loch Lomond, we descended down towards the River Clyde and just before passing over Clydebank I spotted Erskine Bridge in the distance, which we would be driving over in a short while.  Apparently this picture shows a housing development at Drumry, while in the far distance you can see Greenock and beyond to the  hills of the south of Argyll.  It felt great to be coming back to Scotland.

We met up with Douglas, a very old friend of Helena and her sisters, who was driving up with us to a village near Oban.  We picked up a car and set off for the start of a long weekend.  More later .....
