Railway - Hanoi.

A snatched opportunity during our walkabout first day.

Check out the extra photo - Putting on a brave face / Peace and Beauty. A shot taken on our walk aroung Hanoi on the day we arrived. I hadn't realised it was a city of lakes and canals. I wasn't sure why this image came to mind as we walked along but now I look again it seems obvious. This country has been subjected to over 120 years of fereign occupation and had to endure 17 years of one of the most vicious and atrocious wars it's possible to imagine. Yet they smile and welcome visitors. They work hard and still enjoy themselves despite considerable poverty and hardship. We both felt a great 
admiration for these lovely people
