Standing on the ice sheet looking back to The Endeavour the little pinkies are getting cold. 

Jan came with me to the Shackleton exhibition which has just opened at the Royal Geographical Society. The pictures taken by his photographer in extreme circumstances in 1915 were quite astonishing. Accomplished compositions and technically brilliant. Its a real "you couldn't make it up" story of survival. 

Well worth going. And its free!
