Montville heritage trail
These springboard notches are a reminder of early days when land was selected for timber getting from 1881.
The springboards were used two at a time to enable the axe men to climb higher up the tree to fell it with sharp axes.
This stump was used by school children to mount their ponies. The near by oval was the school horse paddock.
Nothing quiet like the good old days!
