London Town

An early start from EDI into LHR and the Express train to Paddington for a meeting in Picadilly.

The events in Paris last week, and Mali, today, makes for a slightly uneasy feeling around town. Was it my imangination or were there really more armed police in evidence. I think it was the latter.

In Trafalgar Square there were moving tributes to Paris.

By the river the winter light illuminated all the sights in a striking manner. The Houses of Parliament in silhouette as the sun set. The brilliant fiery glow down The Mall as the sun sank behind Buckingham Palace.

The Christmas lights on Regent Street were quite masterfully understated. The ones on Oxford Street looked like snow falling amid the blur of red London buses.

It all reminded me of those little snowdome toys we enjoyed  as kids.

On the way home from the airport after catching the last flight out of LCY having enjoyed a Limehouse supper with our youngest son I encountered real snow falling on the  City Bypass!
