Into the Light

The temperature here yesterday was a warm 27c .... the highest in the country. Today at 14c it is barely half of that. We even lit the fire in the wood stove.
The dog and I took a walk around the lake at the Taylor Dam. A family of black swans glided from the shaded waters into the light. There was Mum and Dad and five teenagers. The youngsters' voices have not yet broken. They sailed past squeaking in the manner of the little cygnets they were not so long ago.
