Dissonance
It was a strange, rather dissonant kind of day that finished a good deal better than it started. Needed to be early into the office but yesterday's floods had brought chaos to the trains. I got talking to Lucy on the platform. She's training to be a teacher and it was the first day of her first placement at a primary school in Burley-in-Wharfedale. She got the bus from Leeds but somehow missed her stop and went all the way through to Ilkley. She was then trying to get a train back down the valley - only to find there was no train. She remained in very good spirits and didn't seem too concerned that she was going to arrive late. I think she's going to make a great teacher. It's all she's ever wanted to do.
I've blipped Chris here before. He cuts quite an intimidating figure, especially with that lapel badge, but he's a sweet guy really. Those hard exteriors often belie a soft interior! And it can work the other way around too!!
