Back in Bellingham
With temperatures reaching 100F/39C and above during our Fort Collins visit, we were very glad to have air conditioning in our hotel room. Although it was rather loud, the white noise helped attenuate the sound of trains running down the middle of the next street away from the hotel.
We live in a very quiet neighborhood, and the silence when we got home after midnight was almost eerie, but very soothing. The weather contrast was just as dramatic and welcome today. It was sunny while I played petanque before lunch, and the temperature slowly climbed to 70F/21C. The light rain in the afternoon added a sparkle to the leaves of this Japanese maple.
The automatic drip watering system I installed a week before going on vacation hasn't been needed very much yet.
