HISTORIC FLYING W RANCH BURNED
Famous for serving up chuck wagon dinners for 60 years. The owner had nothing but praise for the police:
"You're getting hit in the eyes with ash, You're coughing but you're able to escape to your car and roll up the windows. Cops are out there in small masks waving arms in middle of it. Working for everyone's safety. Amazing.
FIGHT TO SAVE THE US AIR FORCE ACADEMY
2,000 evacuated. It's signature building---aluminum glass and steel Cadet Chapel. Site of 1,000's of happy weddings. Saved.
FRIENDS & FAMILY
Betty, widow of our friend Dale, a 3 star general, and top gun who taught Chuck Yeager. Their home overlooks the Academy. She evacuated, and is not allowed to return, but believes her home is OK.
My husband's niece. Lives near the Garden of the Gods Park. She and her husband are out of town and their dog is safe with friends. Winds have not fanned the fires into their area.
....And so it goes.
