New roof

The couple who live opposite to us are renovating this barn. They have had all sorts of problems with planning permission. Although this roof has to be preserved as it is listed, it is not strong enough to support the pan tiles so a new roof has to be added on top of this one! As no one is going to see it this seems balmy to me! Also building work has had to be delayed for nine months until four bats have been rehoused or re-nested or whatever!! 
Talk about overkill! At least they didn't have newts!
