Nahant

Took a spontaneous bike ride around the almost-island of Nahant this afternoon. It's really charming, lots of beaches, rocky outcrops, cool houses and a maritime flavor. Northeastern University have a Marine Science Center there, and there are bunkers left over from WWII. During the Cold War, Boston was protected by missiles housed on Nahant.

The shot is from the grounds of the Science Center looking down on an impressive rocky inlet that enabled the waves to crash ashore in a most satisfying fashion. And if you ever forget where you are, the Boston skyline is almost always in sight to remind you.

On the animal front, we saw a groundhog and two baby skunks :) They are cute, but we kept our distance.
