Mono Monday: Another brick in the wall

Our flint church has lots of irregularities in its ancient walls, and this particular patch has always intrigued me with its mixture of flints, stones, tiles on edge and this lone brick. What was in the minds of the builders so long ago? Did they just pick up anything that was to hand, or did they enjoy a random design? Whichever, the result is very attractive, and suitable, I hope, for today's Mono Monday Challenge, "Another brick in the wall".
