The Parents, Nest # 3
In my neighborhood are three nests of yellow-crowned night herons. Nest #1 is the easiest to observe; the sunlight shines on it nicely around 6:30 PM. There are four active chicks there, and often a parent standing on a higher branch. Nest #2, with three chicks, is close to Nest #1, but harder to see. A little farther down the street is Nest #3. Two chicks fell from this nest and did not survive, but two remain.
In this pictures are two adults, standing on branches near Nest #3.
