A day of mixed emotions

Had to wake up super early  to see Ben off for the  24 Hour Race that he was participating in. A lot of schools are supporting this organisation in fighting human trafficking and he's in the Island School team.

As soon as he left, I started working on the rest of the cakes and switched the TV on for some background noise and saw the devastating news about Paris. Goodness, what is happening? Watched in horror as the death count rose and witnesses gave their testimonies. Was really saddened by these terrifying events.

Still, again, had to get on with my day. Martin and Cecilia helped me carry all the cakes and stuff in, plus Ben rang and said he needed a tent to sleep in, as they were supposed to be running through the night as well. So Martin had to go drop that off too at the Peak.

Got to school and set up the stall. The collage is of three of the first set of volunteers and some of the cakes I made. The lady on the right of the group is actually French and was texting her mum quite a bit to make sure she was okay. She was visibly upset but managed very well.

Good day despite what's happening. The world has been shaken up again, as if this is not happening all the time? What's the difference with Paris?

Home to worship practice for the service tomorrow. Was happy to put my feet up for a bit and relax with some friends before we retired for the day.

Hope Ben is doing okay out there!
