Sunday Morning French Toast

Being an empty-nester, I don't often cook anymore, but on the weekends when my son is able to come home from his post at the Naval Station in Norfolk, I enjoy cooking him a nice, hearty breakfast.
Being a near-vegetarian, I don't often eat pork, but I do from time to time indulge in a little Trader Joe's uncured bacon, so...since my son was here for a visit I whipped up some nice French toast, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, to serve with that bacon. Add some French press-brewed steaming hot cups of coffee  and, voilà...Sunday brunch!


 I really do hate to boast
But I made some delicious Frenchman's toast.
Mixed two eggs so nice and round
Fried the bread until ‘twas brown.
Put on a plate so nice and neat
Poured on the syrup, oh so sweet.
Made a treat that can't be beat.
A pat on the back for such a feat
I'll now sit down and eat and eat
