so I'll wait

8:30pm and visiting the Carters.

Mrs C is very kindly letting me photograph her outstretched, resting hands for a wee video project. Like many mothers, this is the first time she has stopped since waking up this morning.

It's often easier to be busy and keep going than to stop. And to wait. And to be.

We all need time of rest. We are wired for it. And that's not just about physically staying still. There's a need to silence the noise of our mental machinery.

To make room.

And for me (and countless others) making room is where we find a deeper place of relationship with God. Yes, I believe He is in the fluidity and the frenetic pace of life. But to wait and just be can lead to a rest that defies stillness. A peace that is beyond rationality.
