A Morepork Owl, RuRu in Maori.

This beautiful native Owl ,I have not seen one before, was picked up off the road in North Canterbury . It was a lucky one- just slight concussion so will be released back to where he came from, as soon as we find someone travelling up there. He is so feisty we have to handle him as if he is a hawk. He is all claws and beak!!!!!
The morepork is New Zealand’s only surviving native owl. They are found in mainland New Zealand’s forests and on many offshore islands.He is a little larger the the Little German Owls we have had , eyes closer together, and darker feathers.
