Rigging

Went up to the Farmers Market at Castle Terrace and happily bumped into Shandonner and bignoniodes whom we hadn't seen for ages. It started raining so we went for a coffee under cover and caught up with various pieces of news, particularly about S's mum who seems to be doing much better. We came home via Tiso (didn't buy anything there) and the Leith market (where we found several useful items) and then stayed indoors for the rest of the day, avoiding the weather and reading the horrible news.

As we passed along Princes Street about 10 am I noticed that huge amounts of heavy machinery, scaffolding, fairground rides, etc etc, were being unloaded either side of the Scott Monument and all the way along as far as the Mound. About three hours later we observed from a distance that they already seemed to have erected the skeleton of the big Ferris wheel - I'm sure it wasn't there earlier!

Edit: it's just been pointed out to me by Arclight (see comment) that it's been there since Thursday - I am evidently unobservant!
