stuff & nonsense

Friday the 13th began in promising fashion with the cancellation of our cruise around Freycinet due to high seas on the ocean side but our alternative land based forays up to Cape Tourville and Sleepy Bay proved to be amazing compensation. The views from the headland were spectacular in the sun and Sleepy Bay (my extra) was far from...

We headed north to the Bay of Fires for an early evening shoot at these wonderful red lichen rocks. It would have been wonderful to see them in sunlight but the clouds came in and the light became flat but I don't think this really detracts from their beauty and provided a fabulous sky to shoot against.

As dusk fell we headed towards our destination for the evening, Launceston. The sunset was gorgeous. Very subtle colours, a beautiful band that played again the horizon for some time and coloured the low clouds over the hills wonderfully. Highlight of the journey west for me though was seeing a Tassy devil in the wild. He was scavenging some road kill on the highway when we approached and fortunately scarpered as the car got closer. Fab! :-)
