Greater Flamingo(Phoenicopterus ruber)juvenile

What a lovely sight on my beach side lagoon today! Only one, but in lovely condition and totally at ease on the water, at one point he came straight towards me and was not in the least bit scared of me or the many other birders who were drawn to the lagoon this morning. I'm afraid I felt a bit smug as I had by far the best position and was in the shade, with a drink and the birds seem to know me now and are not worried by my presence. It really was a wild sea at Azaibah today so I think most of the birds had flocked in great numbers for the shelter of the lagoon. A fabulous morning!
