Rhos on Sea for a funeral

I've been to Rhos on Sea today. I went to my Uncle Eddie's funeral. Uncle Eddie was married to my Dad's sister. He was also my God Father.

He died a week before his 91st birthday. At 18 he signed up to the army and was posted to Singapore which fell to the Japanese in 1941. As a prisoner of war he was put to work on the Burma Railway. He was small and survived be nightly going under the wire. All of his foraging companions were shot. He came back weighing 4st 11lb.

He went on to work in an egg packing factory and a freezer warehouse. He was a great uncle and a great story teller. He was very short but always claimed to me that he was the smallest giant in the world. He would draw me pictures as a child and I have a vivid memory of sitting on his knee with a Rupert the Bear annual.

Just before the funeral the heavens opened but we came out to glorious sunshine.

Love you Uncle Eddie
