Catkin
Hornbeam, I think.
The fine weather was finished, grey and misty today but we went for a walk by Aira Force and High Force. A pleasant walk and lots of interest to see, just next to this was an alder with catkins forming.
After lunch we went to visit Mum to do a few odd jobs but our journey back was rather prolonged. There was an accident on the A66 and after sitting in a queue for nearly as long as it should have taken us to get back we were turned around - it was a long detour either north of the fells and round to Penrith or via Ambleside and Kirkstone Pass. We chose the latter but the cloud was right down and the visibility very poor - not good on a single track road - but we made it, only and hour and a bit later than expected! The other way might have been a bit quicker but we would probably still have had the poor conditions. Our meal was rather late, good job it was a quick stir fry.
